Microsoft Outlook 98 OST File Error

Some staff has encountered an error when they use Microsoft Outlook 98 after upgrading from Outlook 97.

"Unable to display the folder. The Exchange Server has detected that you are using an old OST file.

Close Microsoft Outlook 98
Browse to C:\WINNT\Profiles\LOGIN_NAME\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook
Delete the Outlook.ost file
Start Microsoft Outlook 98
Click the OK button
Click the OK button
Click the YES button
Close Microsoft Outlook 98
Log off the workstation, to save your updated profile back to your school server

The OST file contains information ready to be sent to the server, and is used when your computer is off-line (not connected to the network). The problem occurs when more than one computer is used, without logging completely out. To prevent this problem from recurring, stop Outlook from thinking it needs an OST file.
In Outlook, select Services from the Tools menu. Choose Microsoft Exchange Server and click on Properties.
Click on the Advanced tab, and make sure there is no tick next to Enable Offline Use.
