Microsoft Word Templates

These templates are intended to assist you in developing your units of work. They my be downloaded for your use.

The Unit Proforma provides space for unit details as well as content, teaching strategies, resources and assessment.
The Core Question Overview provides a question-based model.
The Topic grid is activity based, with space for follow-on, consolidation and extension activities
Information literacy based unit plan is a grid of KLAs against the Information Literacy process.
Multiple Intelligences based unit plan is a grid of KLAs against the intelligences.
The Key learning Area grid is for keeping track of the KLAs in your units of work

Templates are also available for a concept web, a concept hierarchy, and for ascertaining prior knowledge.

Microsoft Guides

Microsoft Curriculum Guides   provide practical (if somewhat unimaginative) suggestions for using a range of Microsoft products. In and Out of the Classroom provides guides for MS applications, while Teacher Activity Guides are for the integration of MS products into school curricula.

Other electronic resources can be used to supplement your units of work. Microsoft Encarta Teacher Activity Guide provides a few ideas on how you might do this.

Readings

The Question is the Answer (Jamie McKenzie) provides a detailed and empowering explanation of how  create research questions. The question is perhaps the most powerful tool at a teacher's disposal.

Online Research Modules (Jamie McKenzie) provides examples of units of work designed for Internet research. The units are designed to provide scaffolding to students, so that they can make the most of their learning experience. The model used are appropriate for software-based units of work.

Department Documents

The Department's policy documents are finding their way onto the Internet.The format used is PDF - Portable Document Format. To read theses files, you will need a piece of software called Acrobat. You probably already have it loaded on your computer. Try clicking on one of these links, and see what happens. With luck, the file will simply open on your screen.
